Several years ago my wife and I were thinking about our Christmas traditions.  We wanted to focus our family more on the true meaning of Christmas, and we decided to create a new “Christmas Countdown” tradition for our family.   Our idea was to spend the first 25 days of December focusing on the different names of Jesus.

So, we made a list (and checked it twice…) of each of His names along with the Scriptures from which they came.  Every day we would take one of His names from the Scripture, and we would focus on different characteristics of Jesus as we prepared to celebrate His coming on Christmas.

We chose to print each name and Scripture on a card and place them in numbered envelopes.  We have kept these envelopes in our Christmas decoration box and we reuse them each year. 

Of course, you can do this in many other ways as well.  You could print the list on a sheet of paper.  You could write them on a chalkboard.  You could keep it on your phone for your personal reading.  You could even keep the list in your Bible.  However you choose to do it, my hope is that this could be a tool for you to set your focus on Christ this season!
